The End Times & Understanding End Times
There are many, many questions in the hearts and minds of God’s people these days. With all the terrorist activity throughout the world, and the famine and hunger and strife, as well as wars and rumors of wars, it is easy to see how a person would ponder such things.
Most of us have heard from a very early age that the ‘world was coming to an end’, and there are various ways in which people are taught that this is going to come about. Each denomination, it seems, has its own interpretation or presentation, if you will, as to how they see it will all play out.
It seems clear to me that the only reliable source for such knowledge and understanding is the inspired Word of God which is called the Holy Bible.
With that in mind, let’s see what the WORD says about the End Times, and what does it say about what we should look for. You see, this is the only insight that God has given us to go by, as even Jesus, himself, said that no man knows the day or the hour except God.(Matt. 24:36 KJV)Then, He goes on to tell us in Vss. 37-39 KJV the following: 37 But as the days of No’e were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that No’e entered into the ark. 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then, in Vs 40, He said, 40 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
With all that being said, we know firsthand that NO MAN knows WHEN the Lord is coming back, but He IS coming back.
In the same Chapter—Matthew 24, He completely reveals to us sign upon sign of that coming day, and there are warnings after warnings in this whole Chapter. He speaks of wars and rumors of wars. Did you ever wonder what that meant? Wars and rumors of wars . . . hmmm. . . .We knew what wars are and we know what rumors are, but used in this type context can be a little confusing. If we would stop for a moment and think about all that we see today on the TV through the News Media, it is a little clearer what this terminology really means. Almost every day, or at least once a week, we will hear of a war about to break out somewhere, or we will hear about a war between different countries that has actually already broken out. Never before, have there been such countless wars and rumors of the same going on.
Jesus tells us in this very important Chapter, in vs. 7 that nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Never before have there been so many nations against one another, and neither have there been so many kingdoms fighting with each other. We hear of many, many people today in foreign countries who are suffering from famines, and pestilences. . . .such that this world has never seen. Earthquakes!! The news media is always announcing an earthquake striking in various areas and in many countries all across our world. Jesus goes on to tell us in the next verse of Scripture that these are the beginning of sorrows.
There are people who do not understand what the ‘beginning of sorrows’ means, and they ask what it is . . . . Verse 7 clearly tells what they are!!!
Now, let’s look at vs. 9—then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. Now, look at how different cultures and religions are coming against Christians and the religion we call Christianity---they are being persecuted, and hated because we believe in Jesus Christ!! The Lord goes on and on in the next verses to explain how people will betray one another and that there will be false prophets and how many people will be deceived. Does any of this sound familiar---can you relate it to the way things are today???? Of course, you can!!!
There ARE a lot of false teachings out there—a lot of them!!! Sometimes, we have to look really close or listen closely, but they are there!! There are many naysayer who will scoff and scorn and poke fun at those of us who are the fanatics who believe in the Full Gospel—the WHOLE WORD OF GOD!! Jesus said in Matt. 24:24 that even the very elect will be fooled.
Folks, it is absolutely imperative that we are ever mindful of our Father’s business, and so important that we study the WORD to know the signs!! We must be found watching and living righteously for when the Lord comes, He will be looking for a spotless bride! Jesus warns us inVs.44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Jesus goes on to say in the last few verses of Matthew that if we are caught doing otherwise that He will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth!! Now, how much more plain can you find it????
These Scriptures relate to the End Times and the Signs of the End Times. We must read them and re-read them over and over and realize what we must be looking for to know when Christ is coming back. We need to search further in Matthew 25, and read about the ten virgins, and the parable of the talents, and lastly in the same Chapter, about the last judgment. The whole Chapter 24, and Chapter 25 are Scriptures by Jesus Christ to teach us and warn us of the dangers of not being obedient to His Commandments.
There are people who believe that if they live a ‘good’ life, and if they do ‘good deeds’, and they never break any of the Ten Commandments, they are worthy to be called Christians. Not so!! One must abide by these Ten Commandments, and it is certainly honorable to be good and do good deeds, but Jesus said that No man cometh to the Father except through me. (Paraphrased) John 10:1
Folks, there is no other way . . . . WE MUSTBE SAVED to enter in. THEN, we must live an overcoming life and walk in the Spirit, and not be of the world, though we live in the world.
These days we are living in now, I believe, to be the last days—the End Times—and there are tings in this world and happening in this world like no one has ever seen before. Jesus said that that “all these things must come to pass” and then we would see the Son of man. There is spiritual activity that has been, and is being loosed, upon this world the likes of which none of us have ever seen. These are the days that we MUST know who our enemy is, what his tactics and weapons are, and we MUST know all about our weapons and how to use them. This is not a fleshly battle that we are in . . . it is a spiritual battle that we are a part of in the war between God and Satan for our very souls.
Study and re-study the Bible to understand more fully what the signs of the Times are and to know how to fight your enemy and WIN!!!! God said, my people perish for lack of knowledge.Hosea 4:6
Don’t be one of those who perish!!! Accept the Lord, read His Word, and put on the Full Armor of God.(Eph. 6:13) (Learn what this is, and learn how to use it, and walk as closely to God as you can—Remember, no one knows the hour or the day in which Jesus will come!!
