Binding the Strongman
It is really amazing how some people can see things so differently than others, and can twist things to sound just the way that they want it to sound. And, these days, if we are not really careful, the enemy can come in and convince us that a particular situation or an event or circumstance is one way, when in all actuality, it is not.
We see this happening more and more, and I guess, as well we should expect it, as the Bible says that it will be that way in the last days. In 2 Timothy, Chapter 3, vss 5, 7, and 8 it tells us that there will be people that have a form of godliness, but deny the power thereof, and that they are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth--and that they will actually resist the truth. Then it goes on in vs. 13 to say: "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived".
Further, in vs 14, it says: "But continue thou in the things which thou has learned and has been assured of, knowing of whom thou has learned them." You see, Scriptures were written as the inspired Word of God. In other words, the Holy Spirit has actually led these men, such as Paul, to write these words. They were not written to just fill up the Bible, but to teach us, and so that we could learn more about how the enemy fights us, and for those of us in the Ministry, to teach others how to fight these kinds of things.
Now, the enemy has always been here to taunt and tempt and tear up people's lives, but there has never been a battle such as there is raging now, in these last days. There is only one War--the one between God and satan, but there are many, many battles in that war, just as in any war that we see fought out here on this earth between the natural man and his enemies. God, in His Word, teaches us through the Scriptures in the Bible how to defend ourselves, and He is constantly showing us in the Word just how the enemy (satan) attacks and what he uses to pull us away from God and His Promises.
Now, we can go on down in 2 Timothy 4:2-4, and see exactly what we can watch for as there are warnings, and there are commandments which we must follow in order to win the battles that we fight on a daily basis in our walk with the Lord. I have to tell you that satan will use anything that he can--it just does not matter how he does it, as long as he gets the job done, and he pulls you down, and or away from God.
You need to know right now that if something just doesn't sound quite right, that it probably is not. If it doesn't lift you up, and if you don't feel quite right about it in your spirit man, down deep inside, it is not of God, and you need to get away from it, and you need to pray that God keeps you away from it, and if you have engaged in some part of it, you also need to repent of it, and keep away from it and don't let it back in the next time!!!! It is a daily battle that is raging, and it is not only affecting our lives for today, but it is also planning our life for all eternity and once we get there, there is no turning back--no re-doing anything, no repenting, just pain, torture, and torment, and burning, and biting, and pinching and all imaginable bad things, and more!!! We can't even begin to imagine how bad Hell is, but I can tell you one thing, there is nothing that we have gone through here on earth that can even compare to how bad it is there, and it is an instant thing--when we take our last breath here, we take the next one somewhere--it is our choice--Heaven or Hell!! Make no mistake about it--Hell is real, satan is real, his tormentors are real, and we will go there for real if we don't pick up our cross and follow Jesus!! We must accept Him in our hearts, and accept Him as our own personal Saviour--we must serve Him--only Him--the Bible tells us that we either serve God or mamman, and that we can't serve two masters--either we will love the one and hate the other, or hate the one and love the other. That is found in Matthew 6-24.
People will say that they are not serving satan--they say "I don't love him, or I don't serve him"--Oh, really!!!?? Well, let me tell you one thing--if you are not walking daily with the Lord, and following His Commandments, and you are out here doing your own thing, and if you think that you can do anything you want to because God will forgive you if you just repent and pray it away, you are not walking where God wants you to walk. Yes, He did make a way of escape for us if we sometimes fail, and fall short, but He did not make that provision for us so that we could just live any old way, and then expect Him to come to our rescue when we slip!!! That is ludicrous(which means ridiculous and laughable). God has a lot of mercy and a lot of grace, but He expects us to study His Word, and thereby grow and mature to the point that we think of Him before we think the way we used to. We need to quit lookig to the world for all the things we have, and for all the so-called necessities of this life. Honey, let me tell you the next life is far more important than this life.
Let me ask you something. Is there any of you that could look Jesus right straight in the eye if He actaully walked up to you at any given moment? Can any of you look Him straight in the eye if He physically walked up to you right now? Have you got everything, I mean everything, cleaned up inside? We, as people, all see the outside--Jesus sees the inside--He doesn't care anything about what color our hair is, how our make-up is applied, what color our clothes are--He cares about our hearts, and our very souls. Our spirit man is what walks with God, not our fleshly bodies. I wish I could get that down inside of all of you--I am talking to somebody here!!!
That brings me to the crux of what I really wanted to speak about tonight. You know, there is a Scripture in the Bible--it is found in Matt. 12:29--It says : "Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house". You need to remember, now, that this is Jesus talking!! For this message, I am going to use the words "tie up" in exchange or in place of the word "bind". I can remember when I was first starting out in my walk that when someone talked about "binding and loosing", I got really confused, and I had no idea what was being said, and so much so that I would sit there worrying about what they were talking about when they said it, that I couldn't even hear what the rest of the message was. I really think a lot of times that that is what a lot of people do, and they miss the rest of the message.
It is not appropriate to interrupt a Minister in the middle of a message to explain a specific word or terminology, but it absolutely imperative that you ask AFTER the service is over and to have the person that was presenting the message to explain to you what it means. That is the only way a person can grow. If you don't understand the message, then you are not learning, and you are getting nowhere. Not everyone learns at the same pace, and the Holy Spirit reveals things to each of us in His time, and He never puts on us more than we can comprehend. So, ask if you do not understand--but wait until AFTER the service.
Now, to go on--I want to back up to Matt. 12:25--Jesus speaks about how a kingdom divided against itself shall not stand and all through Vss 25-30, teaches us all about how a house cannot stand if it is divided. Now, we talk about the spiritual warfare and how satan sets up strong holds in our minds. Well, he also sends strongmen into our homes and workplaces, etc., to interrupt our walk, and to destroy all that we have so diligently worked hard to build up in our spiritual walk with God. We see from these Scriptures that it is up to us to keep the strong man in our house tied up in order to be able to live in peace and to keep our houses cleaned up spiritually.
So, by this we learn, that for us to keep the devil away from not only our minds, but also in our house, and away from our lives, we first have to tie up the strongman that has been sent so that we can tear up what he was sent to do. By the same token, if the devil can find a legal door to enter into your house, or your domain, he will send a strongman, and he will tie you up, and then he will tear up your goods. Now, your "goods" can mean your mind, can mean your household, it can mean your marriage, it can mean your finances. Anything that he can find an avenue to come in on , he will.
Now, it is up to us to "tie up" the strongman that the enemy sends, and stop what he intended to do. If we don't then he will send his strongman, and he will interrupt, destroy, manipulate, dominate, and absolutely make your life miserable.
Now, it is not a personal thing, always, that is happening--it is simply put, the devil using all the resources he has that YOU will ALLOW him to use to get the job done. Let me tell you someting, the Bible tells us to keep thee away from the very appearance of evil, and if we are allowing it to go on in our own home we are going totally against all that God has taught us, and commanded us to do. If you know sometyhing is wrong, and you don't do anything about it, it is SIN--it's WRONG!!
It is time that we take back what is ours, and to proclaim the victory that Jesus has already won for us on the cross. Satan has already been defeated--he knows what his outcome is--he knows already where he is going, but it is his intention to take as many of us with him that he possibly can. He creeps in, in such subtle ways, that we don't even realize it--we see more and more divorces, more and more immorality, more and more people caught up in pornography, more and more abortions, more and more babies being born out of wedlock, more and more bankruptcies--the list goes on and on. The reason for all of these things stems from what we are "allowing" to go on in our homes, and with and around our families and children.
You have to remember that anything that disturbs your peace is not from God--I don't care what color or how it appears to you--the devil himself will appear to you as an "angel of light". We just have to be wise as serpents--remember that the devil is also referred to as a serpent. He is experienced--we have to be smart, and we have to be in tune with what God wants for us, and we need to try the spirits, and if they are not of God, we need to get away from them, and get them away from us.
The Bible says that we have power over ALL power of the enemy!! That is just what it means!!! We have power over ALL power!
It is all about choices--we cannot totally remove ourselves from all the wickedness of this world, but we don't have to associate with it and allow it to go on around us and/or in our own homes. We certainly need to witness to people who are not walking with God, but we must keep our slates wiped clean, and our garments washed, and walk where God wants us to walk. People out there watch what is going on in our lives--we are to set the example for others to walk, and we are constantly being watched and being judged by the world--and if we are doing things that are wrong, or if we are associating ourselves with people whose lives are not lining up, or if we are allowing things to go on in our own homes that is against God and His principles, then we are not what God wants us to be. He cannot use us--He said that we are to come out from among them, and be separate.
Yes, witness to those who are lost, and pray for their souls, but be very cautious who you "run with". That is all a part of being wise as serpents. The part about being harmless as doves is also very important. We don't want to hurt someone's feeling, but we are responsible for our own spiritual well-being, and that of our children. The enemy is very good at causing us to feel like we are not a good Christian if we "shun" people. The Bible tells us that satan is the very accuser of the brethren, and he is the one telling you that you are not a good Christian--he is a LIAR!! Always a LIAR! The Bible tells us specifically to shun the very appearance of evil.
It is time we take back what is rightfully ours--Jesus paid a terrible price for our salvation, and we have been redeemed by His blood, and it is time that we latch onto what is rightfully ours, and tell satan to get away from us and ours, and that he has no right to us, and he is not welcome in our lives--nowhere around us--not in our minds, not in our finances, not in our thoughts, not in our homes, not in our church, not in our families!!! It's time to tell him to get out, and to mean it, and if your life is lining up totally with the Word of God, he has to answer your rebuke and God is faithful to answer our prayers.
We need to each of us pray for God to help us by revealing to us what is going on in and about us that needs cleaned up, and ask Him to reveal to you what He wants you to do about it. He will help us to alleviate some of the problems that are besetting each and every one of us. It is all about US--it is all about how we want to live, and how we want to walk. We have to stop blaming it on someone else--it is time we take a stand--stand up for what is right, and for what you KNOW is right. If you don't, then you are going to be the one held accountable. Not only CAN He not use you--He WILL NOT use you until you learn how to defeat satan!!!
Pray about all these things--I know that I know that I know that God will take care of all the things that you want gone out of your life--you just have to give it to Him--We have to keep all other things in our life lined up with His Commandments, and then we can stand back and watch how He does it.
